The fact that you’re here means something important.

You didn’t just listen to a podcast — you listened to the quiet voice inside you that knows something wants to change. You let yourself feel deep grief, or perhaps desire, or even enthusiasm for new possibilities. Some part of you that longs to honor life, and death. Longs to thrive, to live with more joy, or to make a difference felt a spark of excitement.

Being attuned to yourself in this way takes courage, capacity, curiosity, and care. Many people ignore the feelings and this knowing voice. They numb out, turn away, get lost. Then, to make it harder, they give themselves a hard time for “not doing enough.”

But you showed up. You leaned in. And that matters.

So before anything else: honor yourself for being here. With all the feelings.

Welcome to the difficult journey of being whole inside intensity.

 

and then...

What you feel right now is not random — it’s a call. A tug on the thread of your life. Something in you wants to be different, to grow, to be more alive.

The next step is not to pressure yourself for instant answers. It’s simply to honor that feeling with one small, courageous action.

Here’s how: 

The Practice

Step 1: Breathe & Get Present.

Pause.  Close your eyes. Place a hand on your heart. 

Say to Yourself:

“Here I am. Right here. Right now. Taking this breath. I can do this breath…and now this next breath. Here I am.”
 
“I honor the part of me that feels deeply.” 
“I acknowledge the courage it takes to stay connected to all this intensity. All this sensation. All the thoughts. The Confusion and uncertainty.  
Through all the noise, distraction, and temptations 
I value the voice in me that wants something to be different.”
“Here I am. Being inside this breath. Here I am.”


Step 2: Listen with the ears of your heart

Tune into Yourself: 

What is the source of my discomfort?” 

What happens when I turn and face the adversity? The sensations?”

(FYI – I call this feeling my Inner Guidance and “the man I know myself to be”).  


Step 3: Act

Step towards, not away from, life!

Time now to step towards, not away from, what you know.

Allow your Inner Guidance to lead.

Be inspired by this reminder: “I can do hard things.” 

This is Integrity.

Integrity matters.

Today Integrity looks like this: 

“One small, meaningful step to honor your deepest, most powerful self.”


Action creates Integrity.

Integrity is a currency of the Beyond,

and Love.


Step 4: Calm.

Back to the breath while inside the discomfort.

Pause.  Close your eyes. Place a hand on your heart. 

Now, relax your whole body. 

Your physical body. Your emotional body. Your spiritual body.

Say to Yourself:

“Here I am. Right here. Right now. Taking this breath.
With all the sensation of this discomfort, I can do this breath.” 
.”
NOTE: as you begin, this only has to be 2-4 seconds of calm. 
And in those seconds, feel your nervous system settle. Imagine your muscles relax.  
“I am not dying. I am totally okay. I can feel myself calm inside this adversity.”
Train yourself:
This is what it feels like to be in life’s intense moments.

“I can do this breath…and now this next breath. 
Here I am doing a hard thing.”

Step 5: Practice Nourishing Self-Talk

Be kind to yourself and honor your courage.

How you tell your story matters.

No matter how big or small your action, now it’s time to celebrate that you care enough to try something different.

Now is the opportunity to find kind words for your journey…something like this:

“Here I am stepping into my fear, being willing to take a risk. Here I am doing something different than I usually do. Here I am doing hard things.

Even though it doesn’t feel great and I messed this up pretty good, this is me courageously stepping forward. 

I know I can’t solve everything today. I am proud of myself for showing up.”



Remember…always remember…

Life isn’t solved in one heroic action. It unfolds through small, courageous choices. Each step opens the path for the next.

Honor yourself for beginning. 

You’re right here, right now crossing a threshold.

My well being isn’t based on external validation. My wholeness is mine. Based on my being right here, right now, taking this breath, and loving myself. 

Step Toward, Not Away from.
We are not here to avoid difficulty. We are here to face it. To mine it for meaning, beauty, and growth.

Small Action Matters

“How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”

Change doesn’t happen in a single leap. It unfolds step by step. Your job isn’t to solve it all today, but to take the next step and feel what shifts.

The way you speak to yourself shapes everything. Choose language that honors your effort, your courage, and your humanity.
